Junghun Lee
Born in Seoul
Currently living in London
Bio
She is a research-based practitioner and works across the fields of urbanised sites, history, policy, local culture and multi-sensory installation for exploring situations and world’s diversity. Having spent most of her childhood in a newly built city, she has experienced its rapid urbanisation process and have been working on illustration and installation revealing the confusion of dramatic changes and the doubts about development. She has been expanding and scrutinising the context and mediums in a more interdisciplinary way, incorporating sound and site-specific research.
Her practice includes creative walking, autoethnography, material experimentation and interactive technologies. Her aim is to regenerate the hidden stories in urbanised spaces by rediscovering the state of materials and investigating the history of space through multi-layered installation. This practice responds to questions such as how urban public environments and local heritage can be regenerated, how she can rethink about resources and respond to a decolonising practice and how she can make a approachable collaboration to enrich a community.
Junghun Lee is currently studying in the MFA Art and Humanities at the Royal College of Art in London, UK. She also holds Graduate Diploma-Art and Design, at the same College and has BFA-Fine Arts at Korea National University of Arts in Seoul, South Korea.
