Listen the Flackes

Flackes is a sound work developed in the theme of Decolonizing, focusing on the history of colonialism, military regime, the resistance in Korea, and a forgotten local culture. I saw colonial administrative buildings and blocks as certain forms of the material, and create physical interference by scratching the brick to de-materialise it. Other sound sources created from daily life and the warm melody of Korean folk song ‘Namul norae’ of people who lived on the Korean Peninsula were embedded to express resistance, independence, freedom and regeneration.
